With EZ-Direct Deposit™ for EPN STP 820, using the ACH CTX format, generating and transferring Vendor Bills (bill payment), from timberline^® and timberline^® Online through your Bank or Credit Union is a snap.

EPN STP 820 was developed by EPN, the ACH payments business of The Clearing House Payments Company L.L.C., working with industry groups, software providers, banks and businesses to facilitate straight-through-processing for B-to-B electronic payments. The standard enables corporate trading partners to transmit detailed remittance information within their electronic ACH payments and allows recipients to automatically post the transactions to their accounts receivables applications. The EPN STP 820 standard is supported by NACHA and the Association of Financial Professionals (AFP).

The EPN STP 820 standard addresses one of the key obstacles in
business-to-business payments: the lack of a single standard format for remittance information. The AFP Payments Advisory Group, which represents a broad cross-section of corporate treasury and finance professionals, has said the EPN STP 820 "appears to address key barriers to the efficient delivery of
remittance information with electronic payments, if properly implemented."

Overview

The files created by EZ-Direct Deposit™ are guaranteed to meet National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) standards. EZ-Direct Deposit™ creates a NACHA or customized file of deposits for all vendors requesting direct deposit. While the standard Vendor module generates registers that detail the transactions, EZ-Direct Deposit™ is required to actually send transmissions to your financial institutions.

What is EZ-Direct Deposit™?

EZ-Direct Deposit™ is a Direct Deposit Interface that works with any version of timberline^®. EZ-Direct Deposit™'s purpose is to create and send file transmissions of the Direct Deposit data generated within timberline to your financial institution, which will then re-transmit the Direct Deposit data to the financial institutions of Direct Deposit participants.

For vendors who are participating in the Direct Deposit program for the first time, EZ-Direct Deposit™ will also transmit the Pre-Note required by the financial institution for approval before Direct Deposits can be made to the new participant's bank account.

How EZ-Direct Deposit™ Works

EZ-Direct Deposit™ creates a NACHA or customized file of deposits for all vendors requesting Direct Deposit. EZ-Direct Deposit™ also gives you the capability to combine the transactions from multiple timberline^® companies into one or more transmission files, and to route each transmission to a different Originating Depository Financial Institution (ODFI).

There are several methods available for routing the EZ-Direct Deposit™ file to your financial institution. The EZ-Direct Deposit™ file can be put on diskette or it can be transferred to your bank via your web browser. 

About EPN STP 820

EPN STP 820 was developed by the Electronic Payments Network (http://www.epaynetwork.com). The EPN STP 820 specifies up to 10 required data elements, with two elements -- customer name and customer account number -- as mandatory. When invoices are being paid, there are eight additional fields such as invoice number, gross invoice amount, and amount paid to be included with the electronic payment for each invoice being paid.
